Willie
Lynch attended Chef de Gourmet culinary school in San Diego,
California in the 1970's while also commuting to work in Palm
Springs at the International Hotel employed as a cook. After
graduating from culinary school, he was hired as Head Chef for Sunshine
Meat, Fish and Liquor restaurant in Palm Springs. Willie worked
at numerous area restaurants between 1960 and 1980, all the
while adding to his knowledge of the art of
cooking.
Willie moved to Alaska in 1981 and
opened a small barbecue restaurant. He returned to California in
1989.
Willie and Lucy Scane opened Big Willie's Down Home Cookin' restaurant
in 1998. They soon became well known with the
"snowbirds" and, through word-of-mouth, became very
popular with the locals as well.
In 2004, Willie and Lucy decided
to close the restaurant and concentrate on catering. They are
unique in the catering business in that they offer full service
catering or the option of delivery only. They are equipped to
handle very large events and small parties alike.
Big Willie's is best known for
their barbecue and custom-built smoker, but they also offer a
wide variety of different foods. They would love to cater your
next party!
